Get to Know the trustees: The Hearts Behind the Hope
Gail
As Hannah’s mum, I play an active role in running Hannah’s Hope. I oversee press and communications, coordinate fundraising activities, and manage the charity’s organisation. My focus is on ensuring the charity runs smoothly and continues to grow, supporting its mission to create lasting impact.
Fun fact: I was a stunt double for a T rex in the last Jurassic park
Wayne
I met Hannah when she was just 18 months old, I married her mum (Gail) and I’ve been stepdad since.
Hannah’s Hope was founded in April 2024 out of love and a desire to make a difference after witnessing Hannah’s battle with a terminal illness. Seeing how difficult her journey was, we wanted to create a safe, peaceful space where teenagers and young adults with cancer can find respite, support, and hope. Our goal is to provide comfort and relief to other families facing similar challenges, inspired by Hannah’s strength and courage.
I now manage our lodge from maintenance to cleaning services, chief photographer and general dog’s body…
AND not a lot of people know this but my favourite film of all time is…”The Wizard of Oz”.
Tanya
I’ve known Hannah since she was born, I now keep Hannah’s Hope in financial shape as the Treasurer. I look after the accounts, insurance, and all the behind-the-scenes details that keep us out of trouble. Basically, if it involves numbers or paperwork, I’m on it. However, you will still see me at events, fundraising and getting stuck in with the lodge!
Maisie
Hannah and I have been friends all our lives! From running around as kids, to going out clubbing and being my bridesmaid.
In my role as trustee, I take care of this website, some of the social media and blogs and anything else techie!
Fun fact about me: I’m a yellow belt in kickboxing!
Zoe
I’m Zoe, mum of two who got involved almost by accident… I responded to a Facebook plea for help in the shop we had on the marina and ended up as trustee!
My role is to work with Corporate partners to create a revenue/sponsorship stream to fund the annual costs of running the lodge. I also help to plan and run fundraising events…watch this space for some exciting events to come!
Fun fact – When I was 12 I swam 15 miles for charity, my ambition is to swim the channel.
